Business Energy to Participate in New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s NJ Ignite Program

Collaboration Builds on Business Energy’s Mission to Support the Future of Work

Westfield, NJ, May 2, 2019—Westfield’s coworking and networking community Business Energy announced today that it has received approval from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) to join its NJ Ignite program. Through NJ Ignite, Business Energy joins a list of collaborative workspaces that can offer rent support to startups moving into their space. To date, a total of 15 collaborative workspaces in New Jersey have been approved to participate in the program and Business Energy is the only space that has been approved in Union County.

NJ Ignite will provide up to half of an 18-month commitment of rent-support grants for early-stage technology and life sciences startup businesses moving to Business Energy. The funding is made possible through a combination of support from the NJEDA and Business Energy, with the NJEDA and Business Energy providing rent for half the length of the approved tenant’s commitment.

“Business Energy represents the best of Westfield in its innovative spirit, collaborative nature, and focus on fostering local business development,” said Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle. “Their inclusion in the NJ Ignite program is a great asset to our town, and serves as yet another incentive for entrepreneurism to flourish here.”

Business Energy, co-founded by Steve Silverman and Beth & Matt Jarecki, opened its doors in October 2018.

“Exciting things are happening throughout New Jersey as collaborative workspaces like Business Energy heed Governor Murphy’s call to make New Jersey the State of Innovation,” NJEDA Chief Executive Officer Tim Sullivan said. “We welcome Business Energy to the growing community of incubators, accelerators, and coworking spaces supporting New Jersey technology and life sciences companies at their earliest stages.”

“We are thrilled to be part of the NJ Ignite program,” said Silverman. “Through this partnership we are making a contribution toward New Jersey’s vision of being a home for innovation, and helping entrepreneurs achieve success is critical to achieving that vision.”

“Business Energy is a motivating place for local professionals to focus on their work and host meetings right in downtown Westfield,” said Matt Jarecki. “We’re so excited to support entrepreneurs and give them a place to connect with others in their industries.”
